Appleby Blue Longlisted for Dezeen Awards 2024
From over 4,130 entries, from 82 countries Appleby Blue has been longlisted amongst 227 architecture projects that are in the running to win an award later this year in the architecture categories.
Appleby Blue has already been honoured with several awards and has been described as a 'radical solution to social housing' by the Guardian. The first Almshouse to be built in Southwark for decades, Appleby Blue has gone some way to help meet the shortage of social housing specifically designed for older people in the Borough.
As JTRE London’s second scheme is the capital, built for United St Saviour’s Charity and designed by Witherford Watson Mann Architects, the development consists of 57 homes, gardens and community space.
It provides genuinely low cost extra-care sheltered homes for around 90 Southwark residents, enabling them to grow older and to stay part of their community.
